How to Install IPTV on Google TV & Chromecast in Canada (2026)
Many media players are no longer listed on the Google TV Play Store in Canada. This guide shows Canadian viewers the fastest, safest way to install the player in under five minutes — and get TSN, Sportsnet, RDS and the CBC feeds running on a Chromecast or Google TV box.
Important Pre-Check
⚠️ Low Storage Warning
If your device has low storage, the installation may fail or show a black screen.
- Go to Settings → System → Storage
- Select Clear Cache
- Ensure you have at least 500MB of free space before starting
Step-by-Step Installation
Step 1
Enable Developer Mode
- Open Settings (top right icon).
- Go to System → About.
- Scroll down to Android TV OS Build and click it 7 times quickly.
- You will see a toast message: "You are now a developer!"
Step 2
Install Downloader App
- Go to the Apps tab on your home screen.
- Search for Downloader and look for the orange icon by AFTVnews.
- Install and open the app.
Step 3
Allow Unknown Apps
- Go back to Settings → Apps → Security & Restrictions.
- Select Unknown Sources.
- Find Downloader in the list and toggle it to ON.
Note: This allows Downloader to install the media player for you.
Step 4
Download Media Player
- Open the Downloader app.
- Enter this verified code: 6468112.
- Click Go and wait for the file to download.
- Click Install when prompted.
Step 5
Login to TiviLeaf
- Open the newly installed app.
- Select "Login with Xtream Codes API".
- Enter the Username, Password, and Server URL from your TiviLeaf email.
Done! Your channels and VOD will load automatically.
Common Problems & Fixes
Black screen after install
This is usually caused by low memory. Restart your Chromecast and clear the system cache in Settings.
App not installing
Double-check that "Unknown Sources" is enabled specifically for the Downloader app in Step 3.
Login not working
Ensure there are no extra spaces when copying your Xtream Codes. The Server URL must include http:// at the start.
